Knot workshops

At Crafting Airdrops Studio, knot classes are the heart of the atelier. We start with how cotton behaves under the hand — how twist, thickness, and humidity change the feel of a row — then build a small vocabulary you can reuse at home. No prior textile experience is required; we only ask for curiosity and a willingness to slow down.

What you learn

Evening introductions cover square knots, alternating rows, and a simple fringe finish. Longer Saturday sessions add spiral half hitches, berry knots, and mounting techniques for dowels and rings. We keep diagrams on the wall and circulate so each person gets eyes-on feedback about tension. You leave with a finished sample and notes you can photograph for later practice.

Advanced seats open when demand allows. Those evenings focus on density planning, joining cords mid-panel, and reading a pattern without constant prompting. Bring a hallway measurement if you hope to scale up later — we talk honestly about how many hours a full hanging needs.

Materials & group size

All workshop cotton, scissors, and dowels are supplied. Groups stay small — usually four to six people — so the table stays quiet and help arrives quickly. Plant-dyed cords appear occasionally as optional accents; undyed cream remains our default for clarity while learning. If you have a sensitivity to cotton dust, mention it when you write and we will adjust seating near the window.

How to join

Email [email protected] with the date you prefer and whether you are a complete beginner. We reply with available seats and a short packing list (comfortable clothes, optional notebook). Payment details are confirmed in that reply. Walk-ins are welcome for short practice when a table is free, but reserved seats always come first.
